In this blog we hope to answer some of the questions that often come up about our most popular product in our Zentro Brand of products. This product is our Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit. This blog will answer these questions and show the many benefits of owning a Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit. We hope this blog is beneficial to you as you look to find which fire pit will work best for you.

Below are some frequently asked questions about our Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit, the answers to those questions, and some benefits that the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit provides.

Question: Is the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit really smoke-reducing? If so, how much of the smoke does it reduce?

Answer: Yes, the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit is really smoke-reducing. Once the fire has reached full size and the walls of the fire pit have been heated up, the fire pit reduces an estimated 80%-90% of the smoke that the fire creates. There are several conditions that can hinder the smoke-reducing technology from working properly. Some of these hindrances include; wood that is too wet, wood that is too green, incorrect installation of the fire pit.

Zentro Benefit: The Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit‘s smoke-reducing technology keeps the dreaded smoke from chasing you and your friends around the fire pit and makes every seat around the fire pit become comfortable and inviting for you and your guests.

Question: Will the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit rust?

Answer: Yes, over time the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit will rust. The fire pit is made of steel and coated with a black, Hi-Temp Grill Paint. This grill paint is rated to withstand temperatures of 1,000 – 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this paint, along with all other grill paints in the market, can not withstand the direct contact of a fire. Because of this, the paint that comes in contact with the fire, mainly the paint that is inside the fire pit bowl, will begin to burn off within 1-2 uses of the fire pit. As the paint burns off and the raw steel of the fire pit is exposed to the outdoor weather, the spots where the paint has burned off will begin to rust. Again, this is something that mainly happens inside the fire bowl of the fire pit.

Zentro Benefits: There are a few steps we have taken to make sure the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit is equipped to withstand years of use in the outdoors even with rust. First, we manufacture the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit with thicker gauge steel so that the rust does not have an effect on the fire pit’s strength and durability for multiple years.. The fire pit is made of 116 pounds of steel and painted with a black, Hi-Temp Grill Paint. Second, a can of the black, Hi-Temp Grill Paint is included with every Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit to allow you, the customer, to touch-up the spots of the fire pit that may begin to rust. However, there are some customers who would rather let the fire pit take on the natural rust (Patina) look.

Question: Will the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit burn hotter than a normal fire pit?

Answer: Yes, the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit burns approximately 25% hotter than a normal fire pit. The reason the fire pit burns hotter is due to the reburning of the smoke that the smoke-reducing technology provides the fire pit. The fire pit is also more enclosed than most fire pits which allows the fire pit to retain heat for a longer period of time.

Zentro Benefit: The extra heat that the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit generates will provide you and your friends greater warmth when sitting around the fire on a cool evening. It also provides higher cooking temperatures which are great for cooking and searing steaks, and other foods over the fire.

Question: What size is the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit and what size fire ring does it fit into?

Answer: The Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit has a 24” Inside Diameter, and fits into a fire ring with an inside diameter of 30” – 32 ½”. If a larger fire ring than 32 ½” is being used, a Zentro Retro-Fit Ring must be used to fill the extra space of the fire ring. The Zentro 41” Retro-Fit Ring allows the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit to fit into a fire ring with an inside diameter of 33” – 38”. The Zentro 47” Retro-Fit Ring allows the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit to fit into a fire ring with an inside diameter of 38 ½” – 44”.

Zentro Benefit: The size of the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit fits multiple block manufacturer’s block fire pit kits. Here is a list of some of the kits that the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit fits into: Teco-Bloc’s Valencia Fire Pit Kit, EP Henry’s Fire Pit Kit, Newline Hardscapes Ashland Fire Pit Kit, Newline Hardscapes StoneLedge Fire Pit Kit, Cambridge Olde English Wall Stones Fire Pit Kit, Cambridge Pyzique Wall stones Fire Pit Kit, Ideal Scapestone Fire Pit Kit, and others.

Question: Does the bottom of the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit have holes for water drainage?

Answer: Yes, the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit does have multiple holes at the bottom to provide the fire pit with water drainage and better airflow. The holes are covered with slats that help to keep them from being clogged with ash.

Zentro Benefit: The holes on the bottom of the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit allow rainwater to drain out of the fire pit. The holes also provide additional airflow for the fire pit, which helps the smoke-reducing technology work more effectively.

Question: How often should the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit be cleaned out?

Answer: We recommend that the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit be cleaned out every 4-6 uses, as long as the fire burns completely down to a fine, grey ash each time. This number of uses can also be determined by the amount of wood that was burned during each use. Using a shovel and ash bucket, the fire pit can easily be cleaned out in 5-10 minutes.

Zentro Benefit: Keeping the Zentro Smoke-Reducing Fire Pit free from ash will allow the fire pit to burn more efficiently.

New Wood Burning Fire Pit Launch – Zentro Basic

Introducing our newest Zentro fire pit, the Zentro Basic! The idea for this new wood burning fire pit launch, came as a result of seeing a need in the market for a standard fire pit that has; a high quality build, is made in the USA, and is a competitive price in the standard fire pit market. We wanted to provide the market with a fire pit that was not like your average big box store fire pits. A fire pit that is strong and durable, looks great, and can be bought for an affordable price. The result we came up with is our new Zentro Basic fire pit, built by skilled, Amish Craftsman in the USA

Our Zentro Basic fire pit has several similarities to our original Zentro fire pit. It looks similar, has a similar design, burns wood, uses the same cooking accessories and is made to fit in block fire rings. However, one very distinctive difference is the fact that it does not come with the smoke-reducing technology that our original Zentro fire pit has. Not having this smoke-reducing technology allows the fire pit to keep its high quality build, yet keeps it at a very competitive price with standard fire pits in the market.

Specifications – The Zentro Basic fire pit is built to fit into a block fire ring with a diameter of 30”. If a larger diameter than 30” is needed, we offer a Basic Retro Fit Ring that can be purchased with the fire pit. This Retro Fit Ring will extend the diameter of the fire pit, to fit a block fire ring with a diameter of 31”- 36”. Though the fire pit does not come with the smoke-reducing technology, it does have holes on the bottom, covered by metal slats for protection, to allow air flow and water drainage. The fire pit is built with a flat bottom, so it can be set on the ground instead of being inserted into a block fire ring, if desired. A metal lid can also be purchased with the fire pit, to help protect the inside of the fire pit from the weather when it’s not in use.
